Greetings Cedar Ridge Family,
Fall is in the air. We can feel it in the cool nights and see it as the leaves begin to change and fall from the trees. Fall is always welcomed at our home. We love the ‘just right’ weather and the beauty of the mountains and the fresh smell of the cool air that brings a delightful joy.
I try not to think about what’s right around the corner though. Not many of us look forward to what comes after Fall. It makes me think about the ups and downs we have in this life. It’s not always Spring time or Fall. Sometimes we have to endure the Winter—the storms, the trials, and the pain. But, Praise God! If we belong to Him we can say, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8 & 9.
Many of us try to prepare for what is ahead. We want to “Be Ready” for what we know is inevitable. We put back food harvested from our gardens, load our wood sheds with firewood, fill our tanks with gas/heating oil and try our best to prepare our homes for the cold weather that will soon be upon us. The signs are all around us, telling us to “Be Ready.” The cool night air reminds us: it’s coming, be prepared, winter will be upon us soon.
Oh Church, do we realize just how close we are to The Coming of the Lord? The signs are all around us. I pray each week God, through His word, will sound the warning. I want us all to be prepared—Be Ready! We can feel it in the air. We see it all around us. We read it in God’s word. We hear portions of prophecy coming to pass almost daily in the news. God’s word is being fulfilled and His promises are coming to pass. Just as we know that winter is soon coming (God willing), we are assured “Jesus is Coming Soon!”
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3 Do you see a falling away? I see it all around us. Few seem to be looking for Jesus to come. That tells me that He IS coming soon! Luke 12:40 says, “Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of Man cometh at an hour when ye think not.”
This gives us something to look forward to. We may not have to endure another hard winter season after all. In closing, I recall the words of Jesus out of Mark 13:34-37:
“For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, watch.”
Be Ready Church! Let us not be caught unaware. But, be prepared “for yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry” as declared in Hebrews 10:37.
With this in mind, let us (all) continue to trust and obey his word. Let us (all) pray fervently for the lost and each other. Let us (all) work diligently as though it were our final day on Earth! One day…one day… it will, and it may be sooner than we think!! There will be no time to get ready; therefore, we must be READY!!!
PS JESUS IS COMING SOON!!!
